Twirly skirt knock off

I saw this skirt on line and thought it was super cute!
Who doesn't like a twirty skirt! But $50? No thanks!

I'll make it myself
So fun to wear!
And the fabric was some I had gotten for free and just had sitting around. Score!

The fabric for this skirt also came from my grandma's house. It is so soft and smooth. I love it. The patter was one I had from high school. It was so fast, fun and easy to make.

I have Issues

Ya. I know.  See I have this problem. I love junk! D.I. Thrift stores, yard sales.....My Grandma's house.  She is...shall we say a collector.  And she has soooo many treasures.  Which would be all well and good but I inherited this fascination from her.  The odd trinkets you didn't know you needed.  They are out there just waiting to be discovered.  But my biggest weakness... FABRIC!  You know they say "she who dies with the most fabric wins!" And my grandma might just win. Only to be contended by my husbands grandma.  She died several years ago but we just cleaned out her house last year.  Talk about treasures.  Too bad I had just moved into a small apartment.  It could have been so much more fun.  Anyway I did rescue a few patterns :) and with some fabric from my grandma's this skirt is a little piece of both these amazing women.

Why all my children will have white birthday cakes from now on

My baby just turned 1! He is a bit of a miracle. He is my miracle anyway. He has been such a joy and blessing in our lives.  He came at a time of a lot of change in our family and he just fit right in. The last year has been one of my favorites of our families.  The year before carried a lot of trials for us and I feel we healed a lot this last year.  Anyway I enjoy cake decorating. I have taken classes and love it.  However that was before 2 kids.  Now it is just a fight.  They want to help. I want them out of the kitchen. They want to see what is going on.  I yell.  You get the picture.  So on my baby's birthday this is the scene playing out in my home. I'm scolding my kids.  Finally I stop to realize this is not how I want this day to play out.  This is not what I want my kids to remember. So I stopped what I was doing and played with my kids.  Take a good look at this cake.  There might not be another colored birthday cake at our house for 17 years.

ps my baby LOVES cake!

What Do Smerfs Do All Day

I've had a job since I was 8.  Living on a farm is like that.  I had a built in job whether I wanted one or not.  It did have it's advantages. If I wanted a new pair of shoes there were always beets to hoe.  A new coat, go jump on the tractor.  My dad always had a job for us to do and we never dared complain that we were board.  I didn't really love being outside in the hot/cold/wet/6am/10pm schedule.  So I went to college to do dental hygiene.  Inside job/ac/heat/8to5. It was for me. Well last year after having a job for 19 years (feel free to do the math) I quite.  My husband graduated from school, we moved states, and had our second baby.  So I joined the land of the stay at home moms.  Something I had dreamed about for years making it literally my dream job.  But I was scared...what do smerfs (super moms educating and raising the future) do all day?
WE PLAY!!!!

Merry go round at the mall
 Hiking
And we had a baby. That was pretty fun. He is a year now. I'm way behind

Let's be Honest

I (Wendy) haven't updated this blog for so long because I like logging on and seeing the sweet things Scott had to say about me :) But Grandma needs some new pictures!
We went to a production of "Beauty and and Beast" Ains was terrified of the beast but she LOVED the music and sang along most of the time.

Playing at the pool with cousins

First big boo boo

We got to spend a lot of time with our good friends the Webbers this summer.  Their daddy was gone too.

On our way home from the zoo we got a flat tire.  Never been so glad to see an Idaho State Police in my life:) he saved us. Anyway after Webbers had there baby in August they moved :( Ains asks to play with Abby everyday still.  I don't know if she misses them more or me.  They lived in the next apartment building and we spent a lot of time together these last 2 years.  It was so hard to watch them go.

Grandpa and Grandma Great came to visit one afternoon

 Ains first krispy kream!

Scott did an internship in Provo this summer.  Ains and I stayed here so I could work.  It was hard but we made it.  We were back and forth for 8 weeks

And I had a birthday in there

And we had mothers day in Provo

This picture is older but Ains has finally gotten used to the horses

Also old pictures but this is what Ains does with the ipod: self portraits!

These pictures were all off the ipod.  I'll get more of the camera later.  Scott is in his last semester of classes here.  Next semester is all clinical.  He has turned in his second draft of his capstone (= dissertation) hopefully he will have that all done this semester.  I'm working 20 hours a week.  I canned 29 bottles of applesauce and 18 bottles of tomatoes last week.  Ains is almost 3! crazy! She is learning so much and is so fun.  She wants to do everything herself and that is hard for me but we are learning.
